Guided Kayaking Tours
Set off from Cornamona Pier and explore the sheltered bays, quiet shoreline and island scenery of Lough Corrib with local guide Johnny Coyne. No experience is needed, and complete beginners are very welcome.

There’s no better way to experience Lough Corrib than from the water. You’ll paddle along the shoreline, pass through sheltered bays and take in open views towards the Connemara hills, with Johnny there to guide you throughout. The exact route will depend on the weather, the conditions and the group on the day. There’s no rush and no pressure to keep up. The tour is kept at a comfortable pace so you can settle into the kayak, enjoy the surroundings and have a proper look around.

What to Expect
Your experience begins at Cornamona Pier, where Johnny will get you sorted with your equipment and give you a clear safety briefing before heading onto the lake.
Once everyone is comfortable, you’ll set off along the shoreline and explore some of the quieter creeks, bays and islands around Lough Corrib. Depending on the conditions, there’ll usually be a chance to stop for a rest and a small snack before paddling back towards the pier.
You don’t need any kayaking experience, and you don’t need to be able to swim. Johnny will stay nearby throughout and adjust the pace to suit the people in front of him.

Your Guide
Every tour is personally led by Johnny Coyne, the founder of Lough Corrib Adventures. He knows its shoreline and the local conditions inside out. He’ll handle the route, keep an eye on the weather and make sure everyone feels comfortable from the moment they arrive.
His approach is relaxed and straightforward, particularly for anyone who may be a bit nervous about getting onto the water. Your only job is to come along, give it a go and enjoy the lake.
Johnny personally guides every tour from start to finish.
The route and pace are adjusted around the weather, conditions and confidence of the group.
