People

A group kayaking trip is a great way to get people outdoors, try something different and enjoy Lough Corrib together. Johnny will work with you beforehand to understand the size, age range and needs of your group. From there, he’ll shape the session around the weather, the conditions and what you’d like people to get from the day. No previous kayaking experience is needed, and participants don’t need to be able to swim.

WHO IT’S FOR

Private and group sessions can be arranged for:

  • Families and groups of friends

  • Primary and secondary schools

  • Youth groups

  • Irish colleges

  • International and exchange students

  • Tour groups

  • Corporate teams

  • Community organisations

What to Expect

Your group will meet Johnny at Cornamona Pier, where everyone will be fitted with the right equipment and given a clear safety briefing before heading onto the lake.

The session can include basic paddling instruction, shoreline exploration, team challenges and time spent taking in the islands and Connemara scenery around Lough Corrib.

The exact route and format will depend on the group and the conditions on the day. Johnny will keep the pace comfortable and make sure everyone feels included, whether they’re confident on the water or giving kayaking a go for the first time.

For larger groups, participants may be organised into smaller rotations to keep the experience safe, manageable and enjoyable for everyone.

Your Guide

Every private, school and group booking is personally led by Johnny Coyne, the founder of Lough Corrib Adventures.

Johnny is the person you’ll deal with from the first enquiry right through to the day itself. He’ll help organise the practical details, plan the session and guide the group on the water.

His approach is calm, clear and easy-going. He knows that every group is different, so he’ll adjust the pace, route and level of support around the people in front of him.

  • Johnny personally leads every booking.

  • Sessions are adapted to suit the group’s age, confidence and experience.

  • The route is chosen around the weather and lake conditions.

  • Organisers have one clear point of contact throughout.

What’s Included

Everything needed for the kayaking session is provided, so organisers don’t have to source specialist equipment.

Included with your booking:

  • Kayaks

  • Paddles

  • Buoyancy aids

  • Safety briefing

  • Basic paddling instruction

  • Personally guided session

  • Route planned around the group

  • Team activities where suitable

WHY GROUPS CHOOSE US:

SAFE AND WELL ORGANISED

Every session begins with a full briefing, and Johnny keeps a close eye on the group throughout.

SUITABLE FOR BEGINNERS

No previous kayaking experience or swimming ability is required.

BUILT AROUND YOUR GROUP

The pace and structure can be adjusted around your numbers, age range and aims for the day.

MORE THAN JUST A PADDLE

Sessions can encourage teamwork, confidence, communication and time spent properly outdoors.

SCHOOL & YOUTH GROUPS

School and youth bookings can be shaped around teamwork, confidence, outdoor learning and giving young people the chance to try something new.

Johnny keeps the instruction straightforward and the atmosphere relaxed, while making sure everyone understands what’s expected before getting onto the water.

The session can be adapted around the age of the participants, the size of the group and any particular goals the organiser has in mind.

COLLEGES & EXCHANGE GROUPS

A private kayaking session gives students a memorable way to experience Lough Corrib and spend time together outside the usual classroom or tour setting.

Johnny regularly works with Irish colleges, international students and exchange groups, including people who may never have kayaked before.

CORPORATE GROUPS

A day on the Corrib gives teams the chance to communicate, work together and enjoy a shared challenge away from the office.

The experience can be kept relaxed or include more structured team activities, depending on what suits the group.

common questions
How fit do I need to be to join a tour?
what's included in the tour price?
How small are the groups?

Kayaking groups can be as large as 32. We believe small groups make for better experiences, more wildlife sightings, more personal guidance, and less impact on the places we love.

Can I join a tour as a solo traveller?
what happens if the weather is bad?
what is your cancellation policy?

“A Phenomenal experience.”
"Went for a kayaking tour this week with Johnny and it was amazing. He had so much knowledge about the area and had a really positive attitude which made the tour so enjoyable 🌞 we also went in his sauna afterwards- Sauna Cróga and a dip in the lake which was beautiful and a coffee from their truck Corrib Coffee. 1000/10 amazing experience, couldn’t recommend it enough 😊"
